Frequently Asked Questions
At NEVE, we don't measure success by how exhausted you are after a workout. We measure it by how capable you become because of your training.
Getting Started
-
Every new member begins with an Initial Assessment.
During your assessment, we'll discuss your goals, health history, previous injuries, movement patterns, and experience with exercise. We'll also assess mobility, strength, balance, and movement quality so we understand where you're starting.
From there, we'll recommend the path that's the best fit for you—whether that's private coaching, semi-private training, a membership, or one of our seasonal specialty blocks.
Our goal is simple: help you train safely, confidently, and with purpose from day one.
-
Your Initial Assessment helps us determine the best starting point for you based on your goals, training experience, movement, strength, and confidence in the gym.
From there, your NEVE training may include:
Private Coaching for individualized instruction, skill development, or extra support getting started.
Semi-Private Coaching for personalized programming and coaching in a small-group setting.
NEVE Memberships for progressive, professionally coached strength, power, balance, mobility, and conditioning.
NEVE Blocks for focused, short-term training built around a specific goal, skill, or season.
You don’t need to know which option is right for you before you arrive. The Initial Assessment is designed to help us figure that out together.
And as your strength, skills, and goals evolve, your training can evolve with you.
-
Throughout the year, NEVE offers focused training series designed around the demands of the season or a specific skill.
Examples include:
Winter Ready
Trail Ready
New to Barbells
Midlife Ignite
Strong Foundations
Power for Life
Mountain Strong
These small-group programs allow you to focus on one objective while receiving individualized coaching and accountability.
-
The Strong Start Experience is the recommended starting point for most women who are new to NEVE. It helps us get to know you, understand your goals, and ensure you begin training safely and confidently.
Already trained with Carolyn or have previous strength training experience? You may be ready to jump directly into membership. Reach out, and we'll help you choose the best starting point for your goals and experience.
Results & Goals
-
Yes—but our focus is bigger than weight loss.
Research consistently shows that strength training is one of the most effective ways to improve body composition, preserve muscle, increase metabolism, and support healthy aging.
Rather than chasing calories burned, we help you build muscle, improve insulin sensitivity, increase daily energy, and develop a body that's strong, capable, and resilient.
Many women find that when they focus on getting stronger, the physique changes naturally follow.
-
Absolutely.
NEVE was created for women who want their training to improve life outside the gym.
Our coaching develops strength, power, balance, mobility, and work capacity that translate directly to mountain sports and everyday adventures.
Whether you're skiing powder, climbing fourteeners, chasing grandchildren, or preparing for a hut trip in the Alps, we help you build a body that's ready.
-
That's exactly why NEVE exists.
Many women tell us they don't necessarily want to be competitive athletes—they simply want to feel capable again.
Whether that's lifting your kids, carrying groceries without thinking about it, hiking with friends, or skiing all day without feeling exhausted, our training helps you reclaim confidence in your body.
-
No.
Every workout is coached and scalable.
Whether you've never lifted a weight or you've trained for years, we'll meet you where you are and help you progress safely.
Our goal isn't to leave you exhausted.
It's to leave you stronger.
The NEVE Difference
-
We believe women deserve training that is intentional—not random.
The NEVE Method is built around six principles:
Heavy Strength Training
Building muscle is essential for metabolism, bone density, longevity, and confidence. We progressively train real strength—not endless light weights.
Explosive Power
Power is one of the first physical qualities women lose as they age. We include jumping, medicine balls, kettlebells, sprint work, Olympic lifting progressions, and athletic movement to help maintain speed, balance, and independence.
Integrated Mobility
Mobility isn't something you squeeze in afterward.
It's built directly into every week so you move well, recover well, and continue doing the activities you love.
Low-Volume, High-Quality Conditioning
Instead of long exhausting workouts, we use intelligently programmed intervals that improve cardiovascular fitness while preserving strength and recovery.
Recovery Matters
Progress doesn't happen because you're constantly sore.
It happens because your body has time to adapt.
Our weekly schedule intentionally includes recovery, mobility, and lower-intensity training so you continue improving instead of burning out.
Athleticism for Life
Our goal isn't simply helping you exercise.
It's helping you stay powerful, coordinated, balanced, mobile, and capable for decades.
-
Because more isn't always better.
Many women already have enough stress in their lives.
Adding chronic high-intensity exercise without adequate recovery can increase fatigue, make it harder to build muscle, and leave women feeling depleted.
Instead, we combine heavy lifting, intentional conditioning, mobility, and recovery to help you get stronger while maintaining energy for the rest of your life.
Women-Only Training
-
Because women deserve a space built specifically for them.
Our coaching, programming, and community are designed around the unique physiology, goals, and life stages of women.
Many members tell us they feel more comfortable learning new skills, asking questions, and challenging themselves in an environment where everyone is working toward similar goals.
It's supportive—not intimidating.
-
Yes.
Women are not simply "smaller men."
Research from experts like Dr. Stacy Sims and Dr. Vonda Wright has helped change how we think about women's performance and healthy aging.
Women generally respond exceptionally well to:
Heavy strength training
Explosive power training
Higher-quality recovery
Progressive overload
Protein intake that supports muscle growth
Training that preserves lean muscle and bone density through midlife and beyond
That's exactly how NEVE is built.
-
Beginning in our 30s and accelerating through perimenopause and menopause, women naturally begin losing muscle, bone density, and power if they don't actively train those qualities.
This isn't something to fear.
It's something to train for.
That's why NEVE emphasizes:
Heavy resistance training
Explosive movement
Balance and agility
Mobility
Recovery
Progressive overload
These qualities become increasingly important as we age—and they're exactly what help women stay independent, athletic, and resilient for life.
Training
-
Perfect.
That's why everyone begins with an Initial Assessment.
We'll teach you movement fundamentals, proper lifting technique, and how to use equipment confidently before progressing into classes.
Many women are surprised how quickly strength training becomes one of their favorite parts of the week.
-
That's one of the biggest reasons women join NEVE.
Our coaching removes the guesswork.
Every workout is intentionally designed, professionally coached, and progresses over time so you can simply show up and train with confidence.
-
Absolutely.
Our training is designed to complement your outdoor pursuits—not compete with them.
We'll help you build strength and resilience while managing fatigue so you perform better outside the gym.
-
Often, yes.
Many members come to NEVE after physical therapy or while managing previous injuries.
We'll modify movements when appropriate and help you rebuild strength safely. If you're recovering from a significant injury or surgery, we'll ask that you receive medical clearance first.
